Turning Point

If you want some “fix” in the global news department, click on this site.

By the way friends, I’ll be starting a project. It’s a top secret one which could eat up my most of my time. I identified a prevailing need and I’m determined to get it off the ground. I’m opening myself up for consultancies later on and should you need some advice, especially on risk management research, I’ll be happy to help you.
So, what am I saying?
Well, I need this turning point. I’ll just be for 90 days. Hope for your indulgence. I may cut up some of my time spending over the web (that’ll be good news for Gloria’s mafia gang and her apologists) and focus on what I do most—new product development.
Yes, I’m building a business of my own. If you need me, you can just email me at mangubat.patricio@gmail.com.

On the Bangsamoro Question & the Emergence of a New Group, part 2

By granting that interview and posting it on the Internet, it seems that somebody or at least one faction of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) wants to make a statement. And that statement is loud and clear–there’s a new group being formed that represents a bigger constituency within the organization that is separate from Murad. And this group is what Kato represents.

This site has been proven right again–the failure of the signing of the MOA will lead to a escalation of the conflict. Government erred when it refused to sign the MOA.

Gloria’s pay raise

I don’t know the reasons why Gloria deserve a pay raise. There’s a proposal today to increase the monthly salary of Gloria. I don’t know about you, but, for me, Gloria does not deserve a pay hike.

Is’nt enough for her to receive millions from dubious deals which her husband got as First Gentleman? Is’nt enough that she gets millions worth of donations from political patrons?
And on a sober side, there’s a prohibition in the Constitution that government cannot raise the pay of officials during their term of office. I mean, come on! You can’t legislate something which would benefit you alone, right?
Instead of raising pay hikes, it’s best for government to just raise the morale of government officials and employees. Those who serve the government do so not to enrich themselves in office. No. They think it is their patriotic duty and it should be more than enough compensation for their work.

A Poem for You, my loveliest

’twas in those turbulent times

when our love blossomed
those were the years of
ardent struggle
when I was still chained
in the rock of ignorance.
the moment i saw you
i knew it was quicksand
loving you was the most
grievous sin
but all sins are pure sweet
honey suckle to the point
of death.
you shattered those chains
like candy, you licked it all up
i was caught in the whirlwind
of tight embraces and cottony kisses
forgot my Marx,
forgot everything
for you, my love.
now, after fifteen years
i saw you.
you’re different
felt nothing
you’re like a stranger
felt nothing.

Opening of Beijing Olympics

My eyes feasted in the explosion of colors and the sheer symmetry of human forms paying homage to the majesty of nature. Truly, the Beijing Olympics is the most beautiful of all the past Olympics games opening of all time.

What made it extremely beautiful and distinctly the most memorable, is its message–all of humanity are one. And China is the truest living testament of that unity.

For thousands of years, China was a fragmented country composed of differing tribes and kingdoms. It was only when the Chin dynasty in 221 BC subjugated its last adversarial state that China was formed. What we see as China today is the result of centuries of state evolution. That process involved civil wars, revolutions and subjugations in the name of Unity.

Now, China is one of the world’s emerging economic powerhouses. It is poised to assume its destiny–that of being the anti-thesis of America. China is on its way of realizing its dream of being the “center of the earth”.

And China knows that that dream is just an arm’s length away. Its foremost adversary, the United States, is facing economic stagnation. Its paradigm of subjugation is also wasting away.

China is telling us that unity can be achieved without bloodshed. That tolerance of one’s culture is the way to go. And that unity can be achieved with harmony with nature, as what the Tai Chi symbolizes. The Unity of Opposites can be the harmony that we want to achieve.

And China is celebrating because it is leading a global cultural revolution. That opening salvo is their Baccalian way of celebrating their triumph in the world stage. They are in the midst of conquering the world with harmony, not of war.

Well, tell that to the Tibetans.

The True State of the Nation

A 29-year old man from Legazpi City Albay just stabbed his 4-month old baby to death. The man, whom I will not identify here, killed his son out of desperation. Reports say, the man became totally depressed because he can’t seem to get the money to feed his kid. The man works as a matador and earns roughly 3,000 per month. With the high prices of baby’s milk, the father became desperate and in his desperation, he chose to end the life of his kid.

This incident was reported by the local media in Albay last 28 July 2008. This is a reported case. How about those whom the media failed to report?
Gloria admitted during the SONA that there are as many as 15 million poor Filipinos now. She says more than 1 billion pesos have been released to at least ease their suffering. And more will be coming (about 8 billion). How soon will this help come? Will it really ease the burden of poor Filipinos?
A survey released today showed 75% of Filipinos feeling more depressed right now than a year ago. They say, their quality of life deteriorated. I can’t say more, because even I myself and my family are beginning to experience the vulgarities and cruelties of this life under Gloria.
What I fear the most is this month, August. With a very lean rice stock, will we survive a potential food crisis? Farmers are rather worried because the harvest is potentially getting leaner and leaner by the year. Farmer cooperatives say, government has not extended help through fertilizer subsidies at this point.

Hate fuels Change

I just visited the www.filipinovoices.com site where I am a member since its inception) and I found something quite interesting. There’s a reaction from Bencard which says that the reason why the “same-old rabblerousers” cannot and will not get the hearts and minds of the Filipino is they’re promoting “hate rhetoric”. And what is “hate rhetoric”?

Hate rhetoric is what Bencard describes the current propaganda tool being used by militants and activists in their campaigns against the government. Bencard says that people, especially those in the middle class, does’nt buy this crap. What Bencard failed to even grasp is this–it actually works.

People should be convinced to hate something, a system, before they start acting to change it. If you don’t hate something, why would you possibly act to change it? It’s not loathsome to hate. No. When someone feels hatred, he acts with dispatch. That’s why militants and activists do this hate rhetoric to be able to convince people that it’s now time to act.
