What’s so significant with December 12 that rally organizers against cha-cha decided to hold this huge inter-faith rally? First, the date falls on a Friday, an obvious influence by the Black and White Movement (who normally held rallies on Fridays at Ayala Avenue). Second, I think this marks the anniversary of last year’s oust Gloria rally which was the biggest to date, coming from public indignation on the ZTE controversy. And third, it’s just a few days before the adjournment of Congress, which, for some, marks the penultimate campaign for charter change.

I think that the date is enough for groups to muster enough funds to launch such an enterprise. What I’m concerned about is the events or incidents after the rally. After December 12, what else? There should be a definitive plan by anti-Arroyo and Oust Arroyo forces beyond the interfaith rally. People expect that. If this would be just a normal, over-the-hill thing, and will just be a spurt, then, it’s useless going there.

The Filipino People want something to happen. The people are tired of seeing rallies amounting to nothing. It would be better if, after the rally, some armed elements from the New Patriots emerge and attempt to unseat the pretender. That would be nice. But, if the prospect is very low for this, then, just wait for the catastrophe of a Gloria 2020 to really happen and let’s just see what the People will do.

Most of the people want to oust Gloria. What is lacking is the military component. Will we see it this time?
