Who did it? Analysis of the Glorietta Blast

Published by RedBlueThoughts at 8:23 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Philippine Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales had a very interesting interview with Vice President Noli de Castro this morning over DZMM. He says that the blast could have been the handiwork of terrorists out to get a quick buck. He postulates that these terrorists are short of funds and this could possibly be their plan to convince terrorist financiers that they are still capable of doing such vicious things, or even psychotic ones, like what happened yesterday.

As a police beat reporter who studied these terrorists especially their movements, I would not discount this possibility. However, let us analyze what he said.

If these are really Islamist bombers, basing on their previous moves, they would have immediately admitted complicity. I mean, if this is an act to make money, it would be logical for them to announce to the whole world that they did it, right? Look at what happened in Pakistan. After the blast which killed 100 people, psychotic Islamic terrorists immediately admitted it.

Gonzales has the answer why they have’nt admitted this. He says that these terrorists actually follow the law because the Human Security Act says that groups should admit complicity first before they can be punished as terrorists under the law. Since they know that the Human Security Act has this provision, these terrorists are careful not to admit it.

What a lot of bull. I know now why we are the weakest link in the fight against terror in the Asia-Pacific. We have a nincompoop of a security adviser.

According to Gonzales then, terrorists follow the law, our law. So, if this is the rationale, then, we need to craft more laws so that terrorists, international ones at that, would follow them to the letter. What crap!

What’s so evident about this whole thing is this–THE PHILIPPINES IS HELPLESS IN FIGHTING TERRORISM. Gonzales, in saying that these are terrorists’ handiwork, is responsible for allowing this to happen. He’s the security adviser. He should be taking care of both our external and internal security. Then, why did this thing happened?

And why, Gonzales please answer, why did this government failed to institute strict security measures to avert such a disaster? Why did the entire security apparatus which the Philippines failed in its mission of neutralizing these terrorists? Why did you allow Mr. Secretary for these terrorists to graduate as you said in the interview, “from elementary to high school”?

Some weeks ago, Mrs. Arroyo announced that these terrorists are already on the run and the AFP in Sulu and Basilan are just doing followup operations against them. Arroyo even proudly told the international community that they are winning the war against terror. With this, Gonzales is actually saying that his boss has, again, told a vicious lie?

This blast shows how weak we are in the fight against terror. This blast shows weak leadership on the part of the national government. This, all the more, justifies the intervention of the United States in the politics of this country. The United States must intervene in this because what’s at stake is regional security.

Yes, if this administration is totally helpless in the face of a vicious, evil enemy such as Jemaah Islamiyah or even rogue soldiers composed of the dirty tricks department of the AFP, IT SHOULD BE REPLACED FOR THE SAKE OF THE ENTIRE REGION.

I am asking the United States and the Open Democracy coalition all over the world to support moves in ousting this administration. The reason why the entire regional security is at serious risk here is because this administration is unable to dispense its proper duties due to pressures from incessant political wranglings.

Because no body believes in the legitimacy and moral authority of this administration, it would be very hard for the Arroyo administration to combat international terrorists.

I APPEAL TO GEORGE SOROS AND THE CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY TO INTERVENE, PLEASE, FOR THE SAKE OF REGIONAL SECURITY. I APPEAL TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY TO CONVINCE THIS ADMINISTRATION TO ADMIT FAILURE AND RESIGN. I APPEAL TO THE UNITED STATES TO SUPPORT MOVES AGAINST THIS ADMINISTRATION. CONVINCE THIS PRESIDENT TO RESIGN AND ALLOW A CIVILIAN-MILITARY GOVERNMENT TO ASSIST IN THE TRANSITION TOWARDS FULL DEMOCRACY IN 2010.
