More Taxes, Madame? Are you mad?

Published by RedBlueThoughts at 12:56 am under Uncategorized Edit This

A ManilaStandardToday article says the BIR is contemplating on imposing additional taxes to the people, a few days after Madame’s speech about not giving any more taxes to the people. BIR is behind its collections, yes? So, to make up for the “gap”, BIR is thinking of implementing an old provision in the Internal Revenue Code. This provision is, they say, related to E-VAT.

So, the government wants to expand an expensive, err, expanded VAT already. Other suggestions from the BIR: Taxing the OFWs, more land taxes, etc.

Madame, are you nuts? You’re always like that, changing your mind like you’re just playing tag.

No mas, as one Mexican boxer said. Non, as what the french would say. No more taxes please. We are already burdened with all these high prices due to Recto’s e-vat that we are already neck deep in shit.

Its best that government goes after tax evaders, especially the big fishes. It’s also best that they see non-performing assets of the government, like those old, dilapidated TV networks. Or some obscure non-performing GOCC which is giving us a lot of headaches.

If you tax us more, Madame president, expect a deluge of protests from us, even from me. Don’t do it. You might have escaped it the last time. I’m sure you can’t this time.
