AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Hermogenes Esperon appeared in ANC last night. Looking dapper and a gentleman, Esperon answered all the controversial questions of host Pia Hontiveros, including the supposed “blocking” which Esperon did on the day of the proclamation of Senator-elect Antonio Trillanes. Esperon appeared calm, but exhibited a little bit of arrogance when he uses the word “I”. He says: ” Under my powers…”, ” I directed..” , ” I have the power”.

I know Esperon is the Chief of Staff. He is the most powerful military man in the country today. Everybody knows it. Esperon must refrain from reiterating his “powers”. Some viewers must have thought of him as “arrogant”. (Flash back General Ver of Marcos. Ver and Esperon sounds alike. However, Ver looks more like a true general unlike Esperon who looks like a cop)

Net of discussion, Esperon succeeded in re-inventing himself in that show. I think what happened last night was more of a PR-initiated show than anything. I hope the publicist behind Esperon would consider other things like:

a. Esperon should be made to wear his glasses more often than not.

b. Esperon should go to the gym.

c. Esperon should maintain eye contact at all times, especially during interviews, “live” interviews.

d. Esperon should always wear starched uniform
