Arrest Garcidol

Lintang Bedol seems to have many aces tucked in his sleeves. Clutching a baby armalite with another handgun tucked neatly in his trousers, the embattled COMELEC official seems ready to fight.

Or, is he? COMELEC Commissioner Nicodemo Ferrer called on the people to effect a citizen’s arrest against Linta, este, Lintang Bedol. Bedol says come and get me. Taunting the hand that fed him and made him an instant celebrity, Bedol seems unfazed.

Bedol knows many secrets. He knows who operated for Gloria last 2004. He knows former COMELEC Commissioner Garci. He’s so close, that’s why there’s now a drug called Garcidol, a powerful concoction of lies made for politicians.

Garcidol is the antidote against democracy. Garcidol is the opium for power-hungry people. Garcidol is the stuff that makes politicians, well, politicians.

I call on the People’s Army. I call on the Magdalo. I call on the Magdiwang, the MILF and the JI— ARREST THIS SONAFABITCH. JAIL HIM. OR EFFECT THE PEOPLE’S JUSTICE TO THIS PERSON. KAHIT NA SA KANYA LANG MUNA, MAKAGANTI ANG TAUMBAYAN SA PANDARAYA NINA GLORIA AND COMPANY LAST 2004 AND THIS 2007.

Garcidol—mga walang hiyang magnanakaw ng boses ng masa.ARREST HIM NOW! BALEWALA ANG PAGIGING MGA REBOLUSYUNARYO NINYO KUNG ISANG GARCIDOL LANG PALA, HINDI NINYO MAPATAWAN NG HUSTISYANG BAYAN!

More Taxes, Madame? Are you mad?

A ManilaStandardToday article says the BIR is contemplating on imposing additional taxes to the people, a few days after Madame’s speech about not giving any more taxes to the people. BIR is behind its collections, yes? So, to make up for the “gap”, BIR is thinking of implementing an old provision in the Internal Revenue Code. This provision is, they say, related to E-VAT.

So, the government wants to expand an expensive, err, expanded VAT already. Other suggestions from the BIR: Taxing the OFWs, more land taxes, etc.

Madame, are you nuts? You’re always like that, changing your mind like you’re just playing tag.

No mas, as one Mexican boxer said. Non, as what the french would say. No more taxes please. We are already burdened with all these high prices due to Recto’s e-vat that we are already neck deep in shit.

Its best that government goes after tax evaders, especially the big fishes. It’s also best that they see non-performing assets of the government, like those old, dilapidated TV networks. Or some obscure non-performing GOCC which is giving us a lot of headaches.

If you tax us more, Madame president, expect a deluge of protests from us, even from me. Don’t do it. You might have escaped it the last time. I’m sure you can’t this time.

Esperon Image

AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Hermogenes Esperon appeared in ANC last night. Looking dapper and a gentleman, Esperon answered all the controversial questions of host Pia Hontiveros, including the supposed “blocking” which Esperon did on the day of the proclamation of Senator-elect Antonio Trillanes. Esperon appeared calm, but exhibited a little bit of arrogance when he uses the word “I”. He says: ” Under my powers…”, ” I directed..” , ” I have the power”.

I know Esperon is the Chief of Staff. He is the most powerful military man in the country today. Everybody knows it. Esperon must refrain from reiterating his “powers”. Some viewers must have thought of him as “arrogant”. (Flash back General Ver of Marcos. Ver and Esperon sounds alike. However, Ver looks more like a true general unlike Esperon who looks like a cop)

Net of discussion, Esperon succeeded in re-inventing himself in that show. I think what happened last night was more of a PR-initiated show than anything. I hope the publicist behind Esperon would consider other things like:

a. Esperon should be made to wear his glasses more often than not.

b. Esperon should go to the gym.

c. Esperon should maintain eye contact at all times, especially during interviews, “live” interviews.

d. Esperon should always wear starched uniform

Fireworks

Yesterday, newly elected Senators Ping Lacson and Joker Arroyo traded barbs for just single goal– the Blue Ribbon Committee chairmanship. Digging up dirt, the two veteran legislators stabbed each other with their sharp verbal knives. Both emerged bloodied, yet, unbowed. After the dust has settled however, I believe Ping will emerge a winner.

If this happens, expect an escalation of this word war between members of the majority which is now the opposition and the minority. It has a time table– 90 days. The opposition will use all its arsenal for one purpose–to force the Administration to capitulate and release former president Erap from detention. They will use all their monies to show the vaulted mass strength of their ranks and prevent their boss from further incarceration.

I laud them for one thing–Erap, I believe, is innocent. The entire Filipino people believe this. And I think it is time for Erap to be free.

Next inmate–GMA and First Gentleman Mike Arroyo. Heard a malicious rumour lately. Wagging tongues said that FG fell ill after day-dreaming. He saw himself and his wife inside a prison cell.

Cops turning suicidal over money and stress

A Manila Standard Today news article said that cops at the Western Police District (WPD) are killing themselves. Reason? Stress and Money.

WPD Director Yanquiling said that a number of cops under his watch have taken their own lives because of money/financial woes.

Others have stricken ill because of work pressures. I think though that it is more about money problems than anything else.

If you’re a clean cop, chances are, you’re poor. If you’re a dirty cop, chances are, you’re filthy rich. More and more cops are choosing to be poor than to be rich.

I admire these cops who continue to go the clean route. Though their families are suffering, nonetheless, they would opt to sacrifice their futures instead of receiving dirty money.

Suggestion: the internal department of the PNP should assign more police psychologists in all districts to ensure the psychological health of our cops.

I appeal to GMA to help our cops. Please madame president, increase the salaries of our cops. Help their families. Help those who protect us and make us safe.

Its not finished

Trillanes looked a winner through and through. At past 11 in the morning today, COMELEC proclaimed the rebel soldier as the 11th senator-elect. The former lt. senior grade thanked the more than 11 million Filipinos who voted for him. He said that he will continue to stay in the detention cell at Fort Bonifacio, pending the resolution of his cases.

I was reading the PDI report on this and there was some information that caught my attention. First, I learned that should the Makati RTC find Trillanes guilty of coup d’etat, then, under the law, he must relinquish his Senate post. Why? Because it would make him unfit as a Senatorial candidate. Under the election law, all candidates should satisfy the pre-qualification requirements, which includes, among other things, a provision which says that the candidate should not have been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude. Remember that Trillanes committed those illegal acts before he filed his certificate of candidacy. Under the law, there was, at the time of filing, no resolution yet about his case. Presumably, the law sees him as a fitting candidate.

Now, if the Makati RTC finds him guilty, under the same law that made him Senator-elect, he must relinquish the post. So, Trillanes’ woes are still not over yet. He needs to convince the courts that what he did during the 2003 Oakwood incident was not punishable under the RPC (Revised Penal Code). If Malacanan pressures the Makati RTC and decides against him, he cannot balk at Malacanan and say that he was framed or what have you. He needs to face the music. He must submit himself to the bar of justice. He does not have the standing anymore to claim leadership in the revolutionary struggle because, for all intents and purposes, he already abandoned the revolutionary route in exchange for the legislative route.

I don’t like what the supporters of Trillanes are doing. Like what this ex-general told the public that if the Comelec does not proclaim Trillanes, there would be bloodshed. Why are they so used to blackmailing the Filipino people? These people are like conos na pagka hindi natupad ang mga gusto nilang gawin, iiyak at magbabanta? Are these people really revolutionaries or they are like the ones whom they like punished–the GMA cabal?

Trillanes and the 3rd Generation Katipunan should not abandon their causes and instead, pursue the revolutionary path. The 11 million votes that Trillanes got was an affirmation of one thing–the people want change. They don’t want change through the electoral route. They see Trillanes as an icon of the revolution. Trillanes should be intelligent enough to realize this. That if he and his movement continue what they did in the first place (Oakwood), they will be successful.

Now, more than ever, is the time for Trillanes and all the rest to go for the kill. And I’ll be there.

Rose Scented

Elections over. Time to move forward. That’s the key messages being said over and over again by this administration. The thing though that bothers me is, despite the fact that they claim the economy is growing “by leaps and bounds”, prices of commodities are also “growing by leaps and bounds”. There’s a disconnect because government is saying that they will not recommend a pay hike. So, how will people cope up with this booming economy?

One economist say that yes, the economy is picking up, but the ADB says the government must be able to distribute these blessings below the line. They meant, the trickle down effect. But, you know, sobrang suba these people in government that they want these economic gains to just only be theirs. So, what are they going to do about this?

I think government is just trying to do this as like, rose scenting so that people will not rage and go to the streets to cut their fucking necks out!
